Had food poisoning in Tehran in the mid 1960s. Felt awful, dragged into an Iranian doctor. He diagnosed Appendicitus, refused to treat me because I was a foreigner. Went out and collapsed in the gutter, or jubeh. Ambulance happened along and took me to an armish-maag hospital, diagnosed food poisoning. Doctor came in with two orderlies and a 14 inch needle. Orderlies held me down while he gave me an umbilical (tap 11 inched into the belly button. Cured me. Back into Eastern Turkey picked up amoebic dysentary which lasted until Paris. If you haven't had it, you don't want to know. Finally, back on the west coast of the good old usa, I lasted a week (incubation period,) and collapsed with malaria. If you hven't had that, there's nothing like it!! You get slammed back and forth between fever, which soaks your sheets, and chills, which makes it feel you are on an iceberg. It either breaks after a few hours, or you die. Avoid it if possible. Cheers
