Although I haven't read all these threads on Oliver North, I thought I would add something that I know about him.

About seven years ago I got a VIP tour of the White House by two members of the NSA. We were sitting in the situation room talking while we were waiting on President Clinton to leave the Oval Office so we could go see it.

Here's the clip from my journal: "Behind a door I could here people talking. I asked and was told it’s an office. In fact, it’s THE office that Ollie North went to after he was fired and breached White House security. He got in one evening and was there at 7:30 AM the next day with his secretary shredding documents (they had been shredding for over 8 hours nonstop) when Donald Regan came in and caught him. Regan had fired him the day before and took away his White House pass, but didn’t notify the guards so Ollie was able to sneak back in without credentials. He went to the gate and told the guards that he had left his pass in his desk. They called his secretary and she confirmed it. (Ollie had instructed her to do so ahead of time.) There was apparently QUITE a scene the next morning."

Yea, now there's a true American hero! (Insert dripping with sarcasm emoticon here).
