What's worse is that...

The salespeople at the Paulson store (when there was such a thing) would often tout them as being from the movie as well. I remember when I picked up my first 600 (100 of each denomination, at the time) in the Spring of 1998-- the salesman actually told me that they had made them for the movie, and then purchased them back after filming was complete. I went home thinking I was in possession of the actual props. Of course, I remembered the $10 chip in the opening credits and asked about them; the salesman told me that they didn't make that denomination any more. This was back when the store was across the street from the Stardust.

It wasn't until a month or so later when I was watching the opening credits sequence of Licence to Kill that I realised that the edge spots on the $100 were separated, and that all of the inlays used only red for the Isthmus City design. Yeah, I was probably the only one not watching the nude silhouettes during those few seconds vbg. Later, I came to realise that Paulson made them in quantity, and were merely based on the same design from the movie. When people come over for poker night nowadays, that is how I explain them.

BTW, David, when I purchased my set, I got the $100 with the cog inlay, and the $500 with the hex inlay. I also was able to procur about 40 of the $25 with the scallop inlay at a later date. Do you know if the $5 or $1000 chips were ever made with the hub and notched inlay varieties?

Yeah, I have looked several times at the collectible site you mentioned, and have toyed with the notion of purchasing the $10,000 plaque. However, his 'approximate values' seem on the high end of the spectrum for most things, and with no real way to independently value them, I haven't done it. For the money, I would probably rather get a $1000 Sahara Baccarat anyway. One of these days though.... grin

Thanks again for your clarifications,
