Rambling Notes . . . .

JPA still hasn't been able to solve the triple log-in problem. It looks like after months of waiting for a fix, there won't be a fix. They've been offering free listings for a while, but it doesn't look like it's adding many sellers. Note to JPA - please fix the log on problem.

The Aladdin has, as the article put it, started a "new chapter." Bet your last $ it will be Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. Planet Hollywood can't even turn a buck flipping burgers and they want to get into the casino business? They had a casino in the works around '93 and even had a ground-breaking ceremony, which was as far as it went.

Each and every reincarnation built on that strip parcel has met the same fate. The Tally Ho 1962, went broke. 1964 brought the King's Crown - same result. The Aladdin opened in 1966 went through several owners/Bankruptcys. The "New" Aladdin opens in 2000 and was in trouble before the year ended.

I put the over/under at 24 months. They'll be in trouble before a year and belly up before two is over, so get some PH chips IF they get new racks, as it will probably be their only issue.

The TCR/U.S. Price Guide debate was entertaining. I'm looking forward to James' new book, but until then, I have to use TCR as the most current and accurate. If anyone wants to use the old book, I have a 2nd issue $1 Landmark (Green, HS) that lists for 300/600/900 in James' book, but I'll let it go for $275 - it's in NEW condition . . . . . . and the Hacienda 50 cent trade chips are pretty high as well, but today you'd be lucky to get more than $15 for one. True that once the issue of any collectables book hits the market, it's "outdated" within a month; however, one that is 4 years old is more outdated than one that is 2 months old . . . .

Anybody else notice that TCR #10 has "A," or average as the default chip condition? TCR #9 used to have "VG" as the default condition, didn't it (I gave mine to a new member)? That may account for some price differences, but not the wide disparity we presently see.

Cheers,

Sonny
