The Thunderbird Silver Token

In my opinion, Ron, the circulation strikes are scarcer than the sterling tokens from the sets. I'd say their value is 2-3 times that of a P/L or Proof silver token as few were saved, and even fewer in uncirculated condition.

Original mintages are:

  • Sterling Proof.....252
  • Sterling P/L......1552
  • Silverclad mint..1006

BTW, the sterlings contain about $9-10 worth of silver if you want to melt them. The silverclads have a fair amount of silver as well but I forget the exact amount. Both types were heavily melted in the great silver bubble 30 years ago.

The FM saga is a very interesting story and wold be an interesting story to write for the club journal. Howdy knows most about this and the story of why FM ceased supplying tokens to Nevada casinos in the early 1980's.
