I use AVG too but unfortunately...............

it misses incoming viruses several times a week; but what can a guy expect for free??? Fortunately, these buggers are pretty easy to spot, especially since I get them everyday, supposedly from some of my fellow posters here on this board. grin grin

Here's a couple ideas to help protect your computers from viruses:

  • In addition to running AVG software on my computer, I also have been occasionally running a web based virus scan called Trend Micro Housecall in conjunction with AVG on my machine. It has caught a few viruses that AVG has missed. You wouldn't want to rely on it exclusively though because the only way it works is by going to the website and running it. It is available at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and it is FREE.

  • There is another little tool that the IT department at work had us all run on our machines earlier this week after the W32.Beagle.AO@mm snuck in on us on Monday. It is called McAfee AVERT Stinger and it is a tool that is designed to scan for 46 viruses that the major AV software has been missing. It is available at http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ and it is also FREE.

Cheers!
