Re: A Real Borland Chip!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that I have a stack of one of the Borland Fakes, I looked very carefully at the alignment.

There's nothing to say that someone with a bunch of time on their hands, didn't take each chip, place it in the press and make sure the top was just right, then stamped them.

Every one of the "fake" Borlands (or at least attributed to him as fakes) has the two dice, perfectly centered above the imprint.

Every one of the Nevada molds has the "VA" dead center over the imprint with the dice on the left and the cards on the right.

Since the molds used make the two sides aligned, it would make sense that someone with a hand stamping machine could use the chip as an alignment guide.

The only bit that contradicts Bill B making these himself is that people who worked for him have personally testified that they saw none of this, and did none of it themselves.

As far as the part about the rickety old machine, that proves nothing. The gold or color of the foil, proves nothing. You can buy all sorts of colors of foil today, there's no license for one or another.

Lets not forget that the die to make the imprint in the center of the chips, is not cheap. For someone to spend money to make fake chips, they whould logically be interested in recovering their investment. So who paid to make up all these hot stamp dies for the different casinos. It doesn't make sense to make fake, cheap chips, that at the time had no market value. Nor does it make sense to sell them to people cheap if one is trying to make a profit on defrauding colectors.

I wonder if they could have been sweepers?

Too bad that the only two people who appear to know for sure, have passed on.

The former workers who made chips for Bill Borland, say they didn't make these?

But just because something is COIN aligned, is not enough. Look and see if the dice at top center on the DiCard and if the dice are left and the cards right on the Nevada. That's one more clue.
