The grandson of one of the owners of the Zanzabar found the errors in a closet. The numbers in TCR are the numbers he found.
Blanchard says the chips are real and a note in the Burt Records says the error order was returned to the Burt Co for destruction and re-issuing. It does not say how many were returned. I have no reason to believe more than the numbers in TCR were held out when the order was returned.
