Re: Aladdin buyer will invite Ronstadt back

I suppose that is the new owners right to do this but I think he is stupid.

I may be wrong of my understanding of the incident but the way I understand it, she went on stage with a predetermined intent to offend the audience so that they wouldn't invite her back again. She started by trashing the Aladdin, then by trashing Las Vegas. She then told the audience that they wouldn't hear what they were expecting and ended by trashing The President and praising Michael Moore as a great American Patriot.

I disagree with her on the latter sentiments but that doesn't offend me that much. It is her right to say and I would have probably been dissappointed and maybe have left. However that is her right to say those things and in honesty, I probably expect that her, like her Hollywood friends, whould have such views. What gets me is that she expressed before hand a disinterest in performing for that audience. Yet she took the money anyways and deliberately set out to offend THE GUESTS. I think it was best said that people were paying ticket prices to enjoy some music and be entertained. They didn't pay for an unpleasant evening and to be offended. She let the Aladdin invest the money that they did in billboards and ads, posters and all the other promotional expenses. Her people, I assume with her approval, approved and agreed with all those mateials. Then, she went out in an attempt to sabotage her own performance.

If I were the Aladdin, based on these deliberate actions, I would refuse to pay her for the performance and sue her to recover the expenses that were spent to promote this fiasco. In light of these actions I think it is irresponsible for new owners to go out like this and announce that her behavior is OK and that they will invite her back With Michael Moore to sing after they take control. Giving the ILLUSION that the whole thing was an unfair political attack against HER due to her support of MM and her political views. Had she just done what she was being paid to do, crowds of people wouldn't have stormed out of the theater, thrown drinks at the walls (which requires cleaning of walls and carpet...) and they wouldn't have gone to the box office to demand refunds. Also, if she had just praised Michael Moore and criticized The President she might have still been fine. But, to do so deliberately in an attempt to offend and make statements that would cause such reactions, I think that makes her responsible.

I am not a lawyer and maybe there aren't the grounds for such action but it just seems to me that she should be held responsible for these deliberate actions. If she didn't want to perform she could have just said that she didn't want to play the Aladdin.

I have only been to The Aladdin twice. I thought it was OK and wouldn't, till now, avoid going there. However, based on all that is going on and the blatent politics that is developing, I can assure you I will be in no hurry to go back. The "New Owner" seems to be intent to rub faces in this and is probably doing what he is for nothing more than POLITICS. Not fairness, Not customer service, not a consideration for all the casino patrons who paid money to have a drink or two and be deliberately offended. Not a good consideration for his guests if you ask me. I prefer to play in casinos where I am going to be treated well and with some consideration. This does not seem to me to be good consideration for the people who give you their money. Who knows. Maybe there are enough Hollywood Liberals and other people who are supportive of these politics who can go to Aladdin and be treated well by their own kind. If that is the direction that new management wants to go, so be it. For their sake, I hope there are enough like minded people who will be entertained by such performances to pay all their bills and make them profitable.
