July Special - Reno Hilton $8 Year of the Monkey

Each year, various casinos throughout the United States issue chips for the Chinese New Year. This practice started in the early 1990's.

This year, the Reno Hilton issued, and then quickly pulled, an $8 Year of the Monkey chip which may well turn out to be the hardest Chinese New Year chip ever released in Nevada, if not the entire United States.

The reason as to why the chip was pulled is not totally clear. What we do know is that very few of the chips were unaccounted for at the time the chips were returned to the manufacturer.

According to cage personnel, sales of the chips were stopped after less than 48 hours. During that time, no chips were put on the tables and only a relatively few chips were sold from the cage.

This chip had already sold to 3 different eBay buyers for over $120 each. It is valued in the newly issued Chip Rack #10 at $75 to $99.

This chip is also the July special on the Chips Off the Old Block website.

For pricing info, just click on the link below and go to "This Month's Special" in the upper left corner of the Chips Off the Old Block main screen.

The quantity available is VERY limited. So, if you'd like one, don't delay !!

Thanks for stopping by.
