my only reason is bookkeeping its easier to keep track if we ship once payment is received we NEVER wait for checks to clear and if its a large amount that is easy to recognise we usually ship mimmediately

Jim,, I keep a 5 column chart in word perfect.

In the 1st column is the person's name
In the 2nd column is the date the order was sent.
In the 3rd column is the list of chips sent
In the 4th column is the date payment or trade was received.
In the 5th column is the amount received.

I can't think of anything easier then that.

There is absoslutely no reason I can think of to trust a seller more than the buyer when dealing with a club member. Sure, I can think of many times I have been laxed in either direction with so many trades, buys and sells going on, but as a general rule, I mail either the goods or check immediately upon agreement with the other party of what the transaction is going to be.

Jim, I just don't agree with the easier bookkeeping scenerio you presented.

I remember a year or so ago, a past member of our club from Florida (past, meaning he was kicked out) who had many misdealings with fellow members died and did not get one response on the boards about his death--either pro or con.

He also practiced the same policy of not shipping the goods on his end until he received them from the other party and was very much disliked because of it.

Until one hears differenly from other members regarding the dishonestly of a person, shipment should not be held up.

I know many dealers that have this same attitude thinking that there more trustworthy than a buyer but I, for one, do not agree with it.

This is especailly true between those of us who know each other personally even though we may live 3000 miles apart.

Now that I've let off my steam Jim, The first drink (soda) is on me when I see you next week.
(Actually, it's going to be on Jackpot Auction but I won't say anything if you don't.
