Review: The premier pool area in Vegas, Mandalay Bay's seems to be more of a water park. Covering 11 acres, the tropical park features three exotic pools, water gardens with lush foliage, waterfalls, fountains, a sandy beach, lazy river, and of course, the wave pool, where waves can reach six feet high.

Mandalay Bay has added a topless pool, Moorea Beach Club, where guests can enjoy a European style beach. Featuring two dipping pools, admission to the club on Monday through Thursday is $10 for women and $20 for men. On the weekends, women pay $10 and men pay $30. Day beds for four rent for $125. A pavilion, an enclosed VIP area with its own dipping pool and amenities, costs $350 a day on Monday through Thursday and $500 on weekends.

The area turns into a nightclub on weekends, Moorea Ultra Lounge, which costs $25 for men and is free for women. Out-of-state guests pay $10. The club opens at 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 11 p.m. on Sunday.

Guests can rent rafts or inner tubes for $20 a day - the charge can be applied to your room; those paying cash will be charged an additional $5 deposit. Those desiring a cabana can rent one for $150 on weekdays (Mon. - Thur.) and $200 on weekends (Fri. - Sun.) and holidays. Free-standing shower heads are available to those who'd like to rinse off after a day at the beach.

Mandalay Bay's pool is also home to the Beach Concert Series. With a stage jutting out into the wave pool, guests can choose to watch from the water, or bring a blanket and sit on the sandy beach. It's the best place to watch a concert in the summer; giant fire cauldrons light up the warm summer nights, and crowds are friendly and fun.

With the proximity to the stage and the sound quality you'll enjoy, there's no experience like a night at Mandalay Bay's beach. Once you've seen one concert there, you'll want to go to them all.

Diverse acts in the concert series range from jazz to hard rock to '80s pop. Drink availability is great, with bars at either end and rovering beer vendors. Doors open one hour before the concerts begin.
