You have to give a hats off to Kirk Kirkorkian, who started with Tracinda Airlines flying junkets from LA. He scored a TKO of Howard Hughes, Steve Wynn and now it's Mandalay Bay on his card.

However, this merger is nothing but a bad idea. They stopped Howard Hughes from buying the Stardust on anti-trust grounds.

So if these two merge, what % of strip rooms/casinos will the mega-giant control? Too large of a % IMO.

What will happen to competition on room prices? Deals to attract customers? Luring of whales from one place to another? I think you can see where I'm heading with this.

And as one casino worked remarked in the Hughes era, what happens when you get fired from one place, is that you have in effect been foreclosed from work by all Hughes casino/hotels.

What happens to some car-jockey that gets fired from, Mirage lets say. What his whole career is down the drain? Dealer, waitress, busboy, pit boss. You name it, they'll all be out of luck if they are canned from an MGM property. Only so many jobs at the "other" remaining places.
