Here's some additional info:

Long before Casino Windsor helped turned Windsor into a boomtown, there was the Elmwood Casino.
A 103-room hotel located on an 11-acre lot on Dougall Avenue, the Elmwood had enjoyed a run of almost 30 years when its owner Al Siegel filed for bankruptcy in December of 1974 .
The Elmwood was known mainly for its top name entertainers and a list of who performed there reads like a who's who for the industry: Tom Jones, Tony Bennett, Liberace, Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis Jr., Jimmy Durante, Sid Ceasar, Milton Berle, Wayne Newton and Englebert Humperdink were all among them.
But eventually the Elmwood fell on hard times pricing itself out of the top star market by the early 70s. It closed in December, 1974 and its owners tried to convert it to a dinner-theatre type of format but just couldn't make a go of it.
In November of 1979, it was sold for almost $3 million to George Corchis who operated The Exchange and The Hacienda.
It was then sold for an undisclosed amount to the Brentwood Recovery Home in October of 1983 and today continues to operate as a home for recovering alcoholics.
