How do you sign up and how does it work? ...

You request a Wincard package at the slotcard location if you're a member or when you sign up. You will be given a voucher to take to the cashier's cage since it contains live chips. Present the voucher and the cage critter will give you a packet containing Wincardchips, a dealer toke chip or coupon and some cheat sheets about how to play various table games. Throw the cheat sheets away or read them for their comedic value. The program is intended to help introduce new players to table games and the help offered as tips are a little slanted in the house's favor. Anyway, any chips you may wish to play rather than keep, can be used as regular gaming chips. If you lose your bet, you lose your Wincard chip. If you win your bet the casino may take the Wincard chip or let you continue playing it. I won six $10 bets in a row with Wincard chips at the Edgewater in Laughlin but different casinos have different rules.

The Wincard programs come and go so it's kind of hard to tell exactly when and where you'll find them. There is a site http://www.wincards.com/GamingLinks.html but the info is usually outdated. The chips trade easily in the hobby and there may be some future worth in preserving the whole package. Most of the current Wincard chips I've sen are printed on Unicorn chips but here's a favorite I got downtown back at the '01 convention. A fun part of the hobby, good luck Phillip!
