You will almost always be asked to have your bag examined. If you feel that you don't want to have it done out in the open, you always have the option of having them check it out in private. There is a private area right by the xray machines where you can have your bag opened without everyone else seeing what you have in there. Most jewlers carrying inventory and rare coin collectors do this.
