I can't speak for James, but I can give my opinion. I've been selling chips on eBay almost since the beginng. I started selling mostly low end believing that lower cost products would have a larger customer base.

It looks to me as though eBay is trying to discourage low cost listings. They take up just as much of their resources as the higher stuff. They've raised the listing fee and commision $$$ and done the same with PayPal since they've taken that over. Some sellers have even put a $1.00 surcharge on items under $20 paid by PayPay to offset this.

With the glut of chip listings, the success rate of sales that used to be near 100% is now about 50%. What is sold has to absorb the cost of listing stuff that doesn't.

Unless you can put low cost items into groups, sets or multiples, it's an almost broke even proposition.
