For those of you who live in Las Vegas already know that radio shock jock Howard Stern made his annual pilgrimage to the Hard Rock Hotel/Casino in Las Vegas to broadcast his radio show and not long after some jokester called up the KLAS-TV Channel 8 newsroom and told them that comedian and Stern sidekick Artie Lange had died of a drug overdose at the Hard Rock, Apparently KLAS-TV decided not to verify the information first but instead interrupted regular programming with a Special Report and a Breaking News on their website announcing Lange's death, Shortly thereafter they found out it was a hoax and retracted their report but by that time it was too late because online services like Google News and the Associated Press had picked up on the story and published it.

Don't you think that when the person calling KLAS mentions Howard Stern or one of his cronies someone at KLAS should have realized this might be a joke.
