Re: US Price Guide authors...
In Response To: US Price Guide authors... ()

James and Steve are way behind the competition on getting a timely price guide out. The TCR system is great but I doubt they'll ever adopt it. There is also some animosity between the two I think. Two numbering systems would be a headache and confusing. What chippers need is a standard

I started out with US Price guide but since TCR is published more frequently, I swithched over. The TCR values are more accurate. Even the Rarity scale is off in US Price guide not to mention the grading criteria was so difficult no one ever adopted it. It's pretty much been abandoned.

I think we all here use TCR as a standard price guide and of course with any "guide" there are exceptions like the higher end chips where collectors will pay above book for desirable chips.

Refferencing two numbering systems is just more work for sellers. They don't need it.

Until US Guide publishes on a more regular basis, they will run second to TCR. Right now their last publication is nearing 4 years old.

I like their format better, but TCR telling the year of the chip is nice also.
