ONE VERY TOUGH PRIMADONNA RENO QUESTION

The date code on the bottom is May of 1942. The girl appears to be holding a
menu, maybe. I have a number of different ashtrays from the Primadonna. I
went to my database and looked at all of them. Three have her holding the
menu(?), and 5 had her holding playing cards.

Since, "The Rise of the Biggest Little City" indicates Ernie Primm coming to Reno in 1943 and not
opening the Cafe Primadonna until the 50's. That would hardly jibe with the
date on this bowl.

So, was there a Cafe Primadonna at an earlier date in Reno? It seems
unlikely that this logo would have been used somewhere else outside of a
gaming enviroment. Then, in view of the logo on the ashtrays, (menu vs
playing cards) maybe the three with the menus are not casino trays at all,
but restaurant trays. The ones with menus match the bowl logo exactly.

Thanks for your thoughts.
