I was in college, studying statistics when Ed Thorpe wrote his book. I, too, thought I could "Beat The Dealer". (Actually, I studied it hard and did pretty well until they went to multiple decks!) I had matchbooks initialed at the Dunes, long ago, and have no idea where they are now.
