Re: Shipping
In Response To: Shipping ()

Hi Mike,

It's always good to ask basic questions. Shipping charges are somewhat of a contentious subject on this board. I would say average shipping charge is $1 to $2 with a break for multiple purchases. Just make sure you know what the shipping charge is before you bid.. no surprises that way. Priority mail should be exclusively for large lots.. not just because it is more convenient for the seller or because the PO gives him free packing materials. As a seller I try to keep my shipping charges low.. I wouldn't want folks to pay more for shipping than for the chip. Here is an excerp from one of my ads regarding shipping:

"I have one of the most reasonable shipping rates on eBay for chips.. Shipping is just $1 for the first chip, and FREE for all other chips shipped with it.. that rate is the same for Canada and Europe as well.. no extra charges just because you don't happen to be in the U.S. No pumping up the Shipping and Handling fee to cover the cost of eBay listing and selling fees, PayPal fees, the high cost of Gas out here in California, my time to go to the post office, the cost of bubble wrap and other packing materials, the electricity to run the computer, depreciation on the computer and scanner, the cost of my mortgage out here in CA where I list the chips from, the cost of gas, food and hotel when I drove to Reno and picked these up, my gambling losses at the casino, storage cost since August, the cost of capital tied up in the chip since acquisition, or the host of other reasons some sellers theoretically use to justify exhorbitant shipping and handling fees.. As a collector myself, I just don't want my chips handled that much and I don't suppose most of you do either!"
