I don't remember the exact years (early 90's?) but:
When the WSOP 1st started sprouting, tournament tables were spread at the Four Queens, Fremont, and Plaza, then collapsed back into the Shoe as soon as seats were available.
The FQ's also spread tables for the Golden Nugget's Grand Prix of Poker.
Of course, no year ever got to 2000 tables.
