Topic: Fair Reserve $1000 Stardust

This is for anyone "currently" or thinking about bidding on my most recent $1000 Stardust "Moe Dalitz" Business Card.

Several factors went into establishing my reserve price, so in all fairness I'd like to share them with you. But first I'd like to differentiate this item from the traditional chip cards.

1. Some Chip Business Cards bring a substantial amount on eBay. However, this is a Chip Depicted Business Card rather than an actual chip. And according to some, it's considered to be much rarer due to their ability to survive. Meaning, when a person brought home a chip as a souvenir years ago, philologically they viewed it as cash because of it's face amount. Not knowing it would be made obsolete at some point in time. Thus, people tended to be a bit more careful in saving them (in the event of a cash shortage of course), thinking they were redeemable on their next trip to the casino. Little did they know.

2. On the other hand, the Chip Depicted Business Cards were advertising tools given to "primarily" the high rollers in hopes of a return trip back. We all know what happens when they keep coming back, eventually they lose. Note: This one happens to be metal, not your traditional paper card.
So, since the Chip Depicted Business Cards had no "real" face value that could later on be redeemed, they tended to get shuffled around in a dresser or junk drawer until, or, well, perhaps thrown out in an annual spring cleaning. Thus making their survival rate much lower than an actual redeemable chip.

That being said, it's entirely possible that very few of these exist and conceivably possible that this is a unique 1 of a kind, that survived it's way to the present all these years. Like I stated in my auction, "From time to time you'll see one of these surface with the name of some former low level member of the old Stardust Management. However, this is the first & only that I've ever seen with Moe's name." And so far, no one has come forward or emailed me claiming ownership of one.

Given all of the above, coupled with what I've been told by other fellow collectors. Due to it's scarcity along with the historical value, this could very well fetch several thousand dollars to the right collector. So to be fair, this is why I placed a (less than half) reserve price. As you can see, it's already attracted a respectable crowd.

When I purchased it, I strongly believed it was a fluke that I was able get it at the price I did. Since then I've had several sizable offers, this too has helped me determine a fair reserve price. But my gut tells me that it's either a unique piece or 1 of "possibly" several others. So far, none have ever surfaced.

I didn't know Moe, but a person "once" very close to me did. Moe was a blessed man (a legend in his day) and with that, he blessed the City of Las Vegas.

Good Luck! and If your heart's into this item, then bid your heart out.
