When I first saw these chips, I assumed the chip on the right was an identical but faded/worn version of the chip on the left.

Then I realized the following:

• the apparently worn/faded chip on the right is in very good condition (note the cross-hatching and the crisp thin black line on the perimeter)
  
• the text, inserts and gold are all yellow on the chip on the right and orange on the chip on the left
  
• the mountains are white on the chip on the right and orange on the chip on the left (these color variations are not as noticeable in the scans)
  

So, is this a variation and if so, are all the yellow versions muted like the one in the scan?
