Re: What is a "Round Robin"
In Response To: What is a "Round Robin" ()

A round robin is a bird who has been to one too many casino all-you-can-eat buffets.

I recently took part in a different kind of round-robin (probably not a round-robin at all) called a "shotgun". It worked out much better than I thought it would. With nine guys signed up, we agreed to send each of the other eight guys on the list three non-Nevada $1 chips in relatively nice condition - a total of 24 chips out, and 24 chips back. It's called a "shotgun" because instead of the usual two-three weeks for a regular round-robin to make the circuit, it's all done in usually two or three days. I sent along an extra treat or two in each envelope, like a slot player's card or a casino matchbook, and sure enough, other guys sent me a couple of nice extras. Also, I've been collecting pretty heavily over the past few months, accumulating many common chips from a wide variety of casinos, so my want list is getting hard to hit. I sent out 24 duplicates, and got back 16 other duplicates and 8 chips I did not have! That's much more successful than I thought it would be, but the best thing is that it was a hell of a lot of fun.

Best,
WMD
