They were available from the cage. As far as value.... I believe that $3 a piece is a fairly standard cost for current, uncirculated, Las Vegas, $1 rack chips. Even if you buy-in to the "obsolete" arguement, which I do not, there must be several thousands of these with dealers and collectors, many which are in uncirculated condition.
