eBay makes 19% on a $6.00 chip!!!!!

Just for the heck of it, I looked at the rates eBay and PayPal now charge. (eBay owns PayPal, by the way.) If you sell something for $6.00 and use PayPal (and want to accept credit card receipts), you end up giving them $1.14 -- 19%.

You pay eBay 35¢ to list the chip, plus a final value fee of 32¢ (5.25% of $6.00). You pay PayPal (for all business accounts and for any account to accept a credit card payment [you must upgrade]) 30¢ plus 17 ¢ (2.9% of $6.00).

AND IT IS ACTUALLY HIGHER THAN THAT IF YOUY FIGURE IN THE FEES LOST WHEN AN ITEM RECEIVES NO BIDS, A FREQUENT OCCURRENCE IT SEEMS.

That's alot when you consider they none of the things a traditional auction house does (promotion, verification, estimated values, product placement, etc.).
