Re: Harold's Club Pan Chip
In Response To: Harold's Club Pan Chip ()

Guess I never really looked in the book, but these pan chips were the only large crowns used at Harolds Club, Don. The Smiths were loyal to H.C.Edwards over the years. As you probably know, Fred Beck leased space for the pan game as well as having the concession for Keno. Looks as if he had his own deal on chips and being T.R. King chips, probably facilitated chip tracking. He met Pappy Smith recruit Jessie Howard, married her and she took over the leases when Fred passed on. When H. Hughes took over, Summa Corp. sent a bunch of the boys up from L.V. and managed to alienate the Harolds work force. Jessie was positioned to acquire the Riverside and an exodus of Harolds dealers followed her across the Truckee. So you've shown a unique chip from two historic Reno "stores". grin
