Since I really don't get much into California chips I don't know the true history of the Brookdale Lodge chips. I do know however from speaking to other chippers that chips from this club are very hard to come by and many have wondered if chips even existed. I had one gentleman reply to my auction for a Brookdale $20 sample chip with this picture he recently took at the club. It appears that there are a few chips on display at the club. I guess this does prove that more than one denomination existed. You can see the sample $20 chip at the link to my auctions.
