One possibility is that Paul plays the high-end tourneys where they start at 25-50 blinds so no red to start with.

But the ones I play in AC (except Borgata) the red chips are easy. By the time its into the 50-100 round there are still a TON of red chips on the table that are not used. Mostly they are pushed into the pot by players who dont want to deal with them. If you count them right and make sure you won't cheat yourself when you race off the reds at the break it should be pretty easy to get one or two.
