Re: Chip Repair Survey
In Response To: Re: Chip Repair Survey ()

I sincerely believe that most who object to chip repair, do so not because they are "champions of the hobby" but over concerns for the impact it might have on the investments they have in their personal collections.

Not my collection! grin

I still think that taking the temptation out of the artwork, or not becoming a willing accomplice, by marking chips, is the easiest, most forthright solution.

I admit that you aren't the only person in the world who can do this, or for that matter, may be doing it. There might already be others.

Protecting the hobby from forgeries and fakes, isn't a personal issue. I have my collection because I love it, not because I have some perceived value or stake in drilled or brass core chips. So protecting the hobby IS my reason for opposing unmarked altered chips of any sort.

(ps I just won and eBay auction from David and if he comes up with more Elko chips, I'll bid on them. That has nothing to do with the issue of restored, repaired, and altered chips.)
