Hi Jim,
Dale Seymour is the author of "Antique Gambling Chips" a concise catalogue of just that, who has provided collectors with codes and prices so that we can communicate with each other. It is available for about $25.00 and is fascinating in its treatment of the history of gambling and "game counters" in general. As he states in his preface, "When this book was first published in 1985, the number of serious gambling chip collectors was probably less than 100. Now, little more than a decade later, the number is in the 3,000-5,000 range. Many new collectors are discovering the fascination of this hobby. (Some casinos have taken advantage of the fast-growing number of chip collectors and have flooded the market with new chips. Collectors of antique chips escape this frustration)" Dale has a frequent article in the Casino Chip and Token News magazine which I receive and read from cover to cover although it has little to do with my collection interests.

I agree with you that Ebay autions "have listings after listings of someone retailing their warehouse inventory of home poker chips". I have to wade thru them too since I am an advanced collector. But, that is how these people earn a living and they are all members of CC>CC and they sell their chips because there many out there who are looking for them.

Bottom line is that collectible casino chips are just a part of a fascinating whole. Nancy
