Re: Old GREYHOUND Chip, HARP Mold

These chips were ordered in pink, white, choc, dark blue, black orange and grey during a period from mid 1940 through mid 1943. They were shipped to "Geryhound Recreation" and "Greyhound Club" at 4831 Cermak Rd. Cicero Ill. The denomonations run from 25¢ through $10. The hot stamps were both gold and silver. Approximatly 1200 chips.
In my opinion, they were not used in the Jeffersonville area. Although we do know that Al Capone had a "Safe house" here, and that he was frequently seen in many of the Joints of Jeffersonville, we have not uncovered any evidence that he was connected to the jeffersonville Greyhound club. It is my opinion that these chips were used at the Cireo track. AL was most active in the Chicago area and Fla. There is solid evidence that one of the jeffersonville clubs was tied to Chicago but most were independently run by locals. Stay tuned for more information from "The Joints Of Jeffesonville"
