For those who don't want to follow the link...

The auction was for a set of ledgers, 5 volumes, covering the finances for both clubs for 1936-1940. They show how much was taken in and paid out for the various table games and bookmaking operations. Also included was a stack of payroll information and W2 forms.

They were found hidden in the attic of the building after it was sold. A similar set of ledgers from a club down the street resulted in Al Capone's conviction for tax evasion.

The owners of the club, Louis Campagna, Joseph Corngold, and Willie Heeney, were high in the Capone organization.

For those who follow Chicago illegals and their history, this was probably the most historically important club from which there are any chips available.

A very cool and rare item.
