Very good Archie

Besides Vegas, If you look at the Reno, NV area, I think you'll find that the vast majority of Casinos there offer Strikes. On my last visit, I believe the only large casino that didn't have Strikes was Harrah's which, according to the cage manager, is only a temporary situation. The Silver Strike machine was removed from the area it was previously located at to make room for a designated slot area which could be used for slot tournaments. He went on to say that even though they haven't decided where exactly to place it, they do fully intend to have the strike machine back in play in the future. When asked when the strike machine would be back in play, he could only tell me that he wasn't sure, and to stop back often and check.

Im not sure exactly how much a strike costs the casino, I'm sure Gene could give us some real (reel) numbers, but nontheless, you can rest assured that the casino makes a profit on them.

An important point with the strikes, is that people will pour dollar after dollar into the machine with the goal of getting one. Talking to some of the Strikers, my infrmation is that it costs the collector/player an average of $15.00-$17.00 to win a $10.00 strike. So, using the $15.00 average cost, not only does the casino stand to make a profit on the strike itself, but they take in an average of at least 33% on the actual play.

I dont know of any casino that wouldn't mind paying out only 66%.
