Convention Room Rates

At the risk of setting off another flurry of posts about where to stay during the convention, I thought I'd pass this along...

My wife just called the Riviera to check on the rates for a four night stay from June 15-19, 2004. On her first call she didn't mention the convention and was told that the (non-group)rates would be as follows: Standard room $84, Superior room $104 and Deluxe room $124.

She then called back and asked for the convetion rate, which we know is $70. She asked if this rate was for a Standard, Superior or Deluxe room and was told that it was for a Deluxe room.

Based on this, it seems we're getting a savings of $54 per night by using the ccgtcc rate.

I'm aware that some online travel sites will have lower rates, because they buy rooms in bulk. But, you should also be aware that you may be getting a lower grade room and you may have to pay for any changes or cancellations. Also keep in mind that as far as the hotel is concerned you didn't pay for the room -- the company you bought it from did. So, if something goes wrong during your stay, you won't be getting a refund from the hotel.
