Mike: The "CHEAP members" tag was applied by a poster who used it in a reference to himself. I don't recall reading where anyone else used it as a reference to another person. I don't know how your plan to support the Building Fund can be dragged into this discussion. Your plan is a magnanimous one that is appreciated by the membership.
The information posted in this thread by members who have been around a long, long time, and involved in the convention planning for many years, is provided to explain to the membership why it is a good to patronize the host hotel. No one in the convention planning process has ever or will ever adversely comment on a member's decision to stay at another hotel for economic reasons.
