Some of the Paul-son chips have microdots on the inlays. These are very hard to duplicate. Something like the micro printing on the US currency that cannot be resolved by commercial copy machines. The scan below shows what one looks like under a microscope. It's less than a millimeter in diameter on the chip and they have begun to hide them in the chip design.

There are several other protection schemes that have not been disclosed to the public.
