Re: color test - Casino-related question
In Response To: Re: color test ()

I got 100%, always seemed to do well on those kinds of left/right brain tests. (Once when I could not find my baseball card price guide, which was right in front of me, I told my son Joe (who was three at the time) that maybe Daddy's brain was in backwards. He laughed and said "What brain?" - not even realizing he made a pretty good joke.)

But a test I never, never, never do well on is the Some-Sort-of-Japanese-Name Color Blindness Test. The ones with the circles made up of smaller circles with the number patterns in them. More than half of those buggars, I can't see any numbers in them at all. I am reliably red-green color blind.

People take this to an extreme and ask me if it's the case that I can't tell the difference between a red stop light and a green go light. That's a no-brainer, since the green is noticeably much lighter, somewhat blue-green, and on the bottom, but the colors are completely different and easy to tell apart.

However, there have been some jobs in my life where passing a color-blindness test was a necessary part. One job as a railroad ticket agent required me to tell the difference between a pink ticket (peak fare) and a blue ticket (off-peak fare), no problem.

I have no difficulty telling the difference between a red casino chip (typically $5) and a green one (typically $25). Anybody know if passing a color-blindness test is a requirement for becoming a craps/blackjack/etc. dealer?

Best,
WMD
