Gambler Movie VCR Alert!

Finished watching Mr. Lucky the other day thanks to the heads up from Robert Eisenstadt. What a wonderful movie! Going to be on again Sunday morning, 0600 est, 0500 corn stand. time, 0300 pacific and 10 'til 4 in Arizona on Turner Classic Movies.

Filmed in '43, Cary Grant portrays a gambling boat operator who sets out to fleece a war relief agency by running the games at their fund raising gala. He pitches the idea to one of the agency principles when she exclaims, "Why, that's gambling!" His reply is certainly one of the great lines of all time. Plans get complicated by the babe-ilious Laraine Day, the head of the relief outfit and the lowdown dirty rat played by Art Carney's dad. Grant is fun to watch and the story is pretty good. Nice WWII spirit, setting and pathos.

Riverboat gambler Elvis Presely shows up in Frankie & Johnny a couple of hours after this one.
