I think that giving the OPTION of having 5-minute extensions is fine, but it should be an option to the seller. I guess most would accept the option, but it could have a detrimental effect - I sometimes snipe as I'm fast asleep when the auction finishes. If the option to snipe disappers, then I stop sniping. That's fine, but it means that I may not bid on the item at all (especially if I'm not online) and so the seller loses a potential bidder.

Basically, options are great but I wouldn't particuarly want the change without the option.
