Re: Numbered Roulette Chip from HRH

Danny,

There is a price guide called "The Chip Rack" which lists chips specifically from the state of Nevada. This book is an excellent source but the prices are only meant to be a guide and not gospel. The ninth edition which was published in June 2002 lists the chip that you described as an "H" value chip (H = $30-$39).

I am a collector that specifically enjoys collecting all of Hard Rock chips and in my opinion the #1 and #2 roulettes appear to me to be one the toughest of the Hard Rock chips to acquire. As a result, I believe the chip rack guide value should be higher than it's published value.

This is only one auction and I personally feel that only one auction should not be used in trying to figure out a "value" but on September 15, 2003, one of the #1 chips sold for $361.05.

In my 2+ years of collecting hard rock chips, this Sept 15th auction was the only #1 or #2 chip that I have ever seen on eBay. I'm sure others have been sold on eBay but I haven't personally seen them. (And I used to keep very close tabs on Hard Rock chips on eBay for quite some time).

At the National chip club convention in June 2002, I bought one of these #1 chips via our club auction. The final price that I paid was $130.00. I know a couple of collectors thought it was too high a price. I personally thought it was a great deal myself though since I didn't have one at the time and had never seen one available before.

Back last January there was a thread that discussed these chips. Also mentions one sold via ebay but they didn't quote a price.

I don't have a pink #1 and would be interested in your chip. If you do list it on eBay or wish to sell it privately, please drop me an email.

If any other collectors have #1 or #2 roulette chips from the Hard Rock that they wish to sell, I would be interested in those as well.

Hope this information helps you out.

Brian
