Re: Indian Casino chips
In Response To: Re: Indian Casino chips ()

In case it wsn't clear, there just isn't a huge interest in Tribal casino chips.

Good news is, there are some scarce chips that can be found at bargain prices.

Bad news is, there's no way to tell what is what. grin

From what I have seen, dealers don't seem to make a distinction between Wisconsin, MN, Mich, IL, IN, and others, by state. They just get lumped in together. It makes it hard to find the missing chips for my collection.

Add in that many of the early chips from Indian casinos had no name or no state, or just letters on Langworthy plain chips. That doesn't really make it easy to identify or exciting for a collector.

Time for me to make a new "Wanted" list and web page. Something I need could be sitting in some bucket of "any chip for $2".

Pricing on Tribal chips is difficult for anyone, seller or buyer, because there's just not much good information out there. Numbers made and rarity are guesses in most cases.

I could make up a Wisconsin guide, but it would be pure speculation. My other contention is that it would be an apparent conflict of interest since I collect WI chips.

The two best guides to Indian Casinos are Greg's online chip guide, with pictures and Janice O'Neals check list of Indian casinos. I don't know if Janice still sells the list, but it has dates, table information, plus IDs and my 1996 copy is still my "Bible" for Wisconsin casino chips.
