Re: Valley of Fire Is Beautiful too

You need to head North a bit. Petroglyphs, petrified trees, self guided walking tour, as much as you want.

Also keep going North along Lake Mead and you get to a little oasis town Overton which has a small Indian museum. The town has stores (great for ice cream or a cold soda) post office and it's near another entrance to the Interstate.

In one road, past the reservation store, see the sights, up and out, so you don't see the same scenery twice.

Jean Nevada is fun, two casinos. Go all the way to Primm and ride the roller coaster that drops you from the top of the casino into the desert. (wheeeeee) free tram and shuttles to and from all three casinos.

Stop at the tourist information booth on the way back, sometimes there are coupons there, that are not available in town.

Join/Subscribe to Las Vegas Advisor, it will pay for itself in two days. No kidding! And you will get good reading material for a whole year, including a members only internet site.

Best people watching last trip was Fremont Street Experience. Bands, light show, and all sorts of people walking around having a big party.

OH yes, if you are staying near MGM / NY NY corner, walk down to the M&M store. (just North a little on the East side of the Strip) I'm not kidding. I think it's three stories of all M&M stuff, including every color you can think of, pretty cute.

Last of all, for the brave, and you want to do it ONCE, take a ride down the Strip from the city limits "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign, to Downtown. Plan on it taking a loooong time. AFter that take the freeway, around the traffic and you can get off about two blocks from the Horseshoe, where there is ample free parking.

Hoover Dam is amazing.

Can you tell I don't gamble during the daytime? grin
