Somebody's computer just got infected...

This morning I've received at least a dozen emails that were returned to me as undeliverable because they contained a viurs. However, I was not the sender of these emails because I am not familiar with some of the email addresses, nor do they appear in my address book.

Coincidently, in today's Asbury Park Press a feature article written by Kim Komando explains in clear terms how this happens.

Q: "I am getting e-mail with attachments from people whom I do not know. The subject line always says something about being returned because of a virus. How do I stop getting these?"

A: ""This onslaught is mostly due to the Sobig.F worm. When Sobig infects a computer, it goes to the address book. It sends itself to the addresses there. THen, it selects one of the addresses as a return address ... your address, in this case. When the virus is sent to a computer protected by anti-virus or other security software, it is rejected. The email is then sent to your computer because it is listed as the return address. There is little you can do but to encourage your correspondents to use anti-virus software."

Hope this post helps some folks who don't understand what has been happening.
