I have considered "collecting" scans of higher denomination chips and plaques from some of the card clubs in my (San Francisco Bay) area. Haven't really gotten it together though. I'd love to have scans of the $5,000 and $10,000 plaques from Artichoke Joe's in San Bruno. Just haven't done it. Since it's an hour each way making the roundtrip twice would kind of kill a day. Plus carrying around that kind of cash might be problematic. I've heard though that some of the newer scanners can draw power from a laptop which might allow one to do the scanning in the car instead of returning home. In a sense doing something like this would document chip history since I doubt any collectors have the high denoms in their collections.
