Re: George & Tex's gateway Club Jackpot NV

Mark;

Not sure what happened to George Cannon after he left Jackpot but ran into him in a poker game at the Elks club in Carmichael in the early eighties. What a great old man- he told many stories about his gambling days,Bill Harrah,and his first year at Lake Tahoe when his was the only club to stay open all year long. [Gave away steak dinners to the four or five customers that showed up in the snow]

We played cards for about ten years before he died after he got sick after painting his house at age about nintey. One day he took me into his camper he drove and showed RACKS!! of chips from his casino. Gave me one to remember him by, but of course at that time, I was not a collector and gave them
to Rick Stock a good friend of mine and an early collector. Don't know where all the chips went, but will always remember the grand old man.

Bill
