Re: 1st Reno Visit: What are the "Must-Do's"?

Glad to hear you'll be at Jim's Reno show, Bryan! Two must see's are the historical photo presentation located at Fritzgerald's and the National Auto Museum. The photos are on the short 2nd floor skybridge that crosses over the street near the railroad tracks. As you're standing there over Commercial Row, you can look from the pictures down to where the Palace Club was as well as some of the other old places. The National Auto Museum is east across the street from Siena and harkens back to the days of Bill Harrah's auto collection. About 140 cars compared to HAC's 1500 but a knockout anyway. Stop into the gift shop and see if they have Dwayne Kling's Every Light Was On, Bill Harrah And His Clubs Remembered, it's an oral history project from UN at Reno that is out of print. A day trip from Reno should get you to Carson City, Lake Tahoe, and some meat and potatoes at Sharkey's in Gardnerville, they still have some of those famous tables there.

Brush up on card counting if you like single/double deck blackjack, its the norm in that part of Nevada and many of the Reno dealers worked at the old places like Eddie's Fab. 50's, Onslow, Nevada Club, etc.
