The Lancer Mt Rose Highway

The Lancer occupied the same building as the Mesa and was one of the most elegant restaurants in the Reno Tahoe area from the late 50's to early 70's. The Lancer opened on July 1, 1959 with Bill Nitschke as manager. In September of 1959 they were approved for slots and two 21 games. Famous for their Spinach salad and side dish of white seedless grapes. Usually served up to 500 on a weekend night, 300 during the week.

As so many, The Lancer was destroyed by fire on the night of August 1, 1971, and never rebuilt.
